(Tempo English) Jokowi Beats Obama in TIME's Voting

The President of Indonesia Joko Widodo surprises the world by gaining more votes than the President of United States Barack Obama in the TIME’s ‘Person of the Year’ voting.

Until the third day of voting on Friday night, Jokowi sat on the 17th rank from the total of 50 candidates with 1.8 percent votes. Whereas Obama was ranked 23rd with 1.6 percent. First position was claimed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with 13.5 percent of votes.

Among the candidates are the Russian President Vladimir Putin (7.1 percent), US Foreign Minister John Kerry (4.9 percent), Malala Yousafzai (3.9 percent) and followed by doctors and nurses who work on Ebola case. Pope Franciscus I and even American singer Beyonce are also on the list.

This is the second time for Jokowi to be listed on the vote. When Jokowi first listed in 2012, Barack Obama won the vote and was crowned as the Person of The Year.
