(Tempo) Like Budi, KPK Urged to Investigate Badrodin Account
Commissioner of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) Syafriadi Cut Ali asked the Corruption Eradication Commission to investigate the case of the alleged ownership of ill-gotten wealth of acting Chief of the National Police Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti.
The investigation, Syafriadi said, is to uphold the principles of justice and equality before the law.
“Do not create an impression of discrimination in investigation,” Syafiradi said on Saturday, January 17, 2015.
According to Syafriadi, the case of ill-gotten funds that once implicated Badrodin was not far different from the case implicating Budi Gunawan.
Both cases resurfaced in 2010 and were already investigated by the National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim); however, for Budi’s case, he said KPK continued the investigation and named Budi as graft suspect.
Syafriadi further said that KPK should have resumed investigating the case of Badrodin’s ill-gotten funds and if the commission found nothing suspicious about the funds, KPK must also announce it to the public to prevent public mistrust to Badrodin as acting chief of the national police.
For the record, in six months, Badrodin’ wealth has significantly risen, from only Rp2.9 billion and US$4,000 in 2008 into Rp8.2 billion and US$4,000.
