(Tempo) PDIP, Golkar, Gerindra, PKS May Challenge Badrodin's Nomination at House
PDIP would tackle the nomination since the party was disappointed by Jokowi’s decision to cancel Budi Gunawan’s Inauguration. In addition, the PKS is still one of the parties under the Red-and-White coalition that opposes Jokowi. Meanwhile, the Functional Group (Golkar) Party and the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party can still be approached by Jokowi.
Golkar treasurer Bambang Soesatyo claimed that his party will support the government. However, Bambang said Badrodin’s nomination to replace Budi Gunawan would be an issue. Jokowi is accused of violating the law on Police that will potentially lead to an impeachment.
Bambang added that the reason behind Badrodin’s nomination was unclear. In the letter of nomination, Jokowi only stated that Badrodin would be the most appropriate national police chief candidate amid the conflict between the National Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
“The letter might be rejected in the early plenary session. So we [the House of Representatives] returned the letter to the State Palace,” Bambang said.
